Livin’ in a hipsters paradise

So, for those of you who don’t know what a hipster is I’ve provided you with a definition below.

“Typically a Hipster can be identified by vintage or thrift-store bougt clothing, a taste for obscure or underground music, a penchant for irony and an elitist attitude” (This sarcastic definition was taken from the always reliable Urban Dictionary)

Now that you’re informed… the Netherlands is the ultimate hipster haven. First off, everyone rides a bike- everywhere. Secondly, they sit outside at cafes and chat- all the time. Many v-neck t-shirts, wayfarers, and skinny jeans to be seen. Nike high tops, plaid button ups, spandex, Vans, and wearing mixed prints are also abundant. You can see many people sitting in the grass by the canal drawing or reading. Many people walk around listening to their iPod’s not looking anyone in the eye. I do not believe that many people drink PBR as it’s not really available here. However, they do drink a lot of coffee and tea! There are copious amounts of H&M’s in every city. Not to worry, they have American Apparel and Urban Outfitters here too. You can get organic and locally grown produce as well. The music scene is also on point especially in the bigger cities. And for those hipsters who indulge in soft drugs well… it’s the Netherlands. Finally, this is Europe not to mention Holland so they are ‘open-minded’ and ‘free thinkers.’ (I put that in quotes because those terms are entirely subjective). I’m sure it wouldn’t be difficult to find a person who studies off the wall philosophers and is into cult films.
